This page has been broken in to 2 sections: TRULY available dogs and TRANSITIONALS below, will be the dogs that are spoken for but haven't moved on to their prospective homes awaiting medical treatments. Occasionally a transitional dog will be bumped back up to the top if the prospective adopter backs out.

This is Vinnie :

Vinnie is an innocent victim of aggravated animal cruelty.  Someone cut his ears off in an attempt to dock his ears without having the vet perform the surgery under general anesthesia.  A Good Samaritan found him on the streets of his neighborhood and attempted to locate the criminal who did this horrible act.  So far, no one has been arrested for this felony. In the meantime, Vinnie was taken to animal control where his open cut and infected ears were operated on and he was treated for infection. The Humane Society of Southwest Louisiana has taken Vinnie in as a foster and is pursuing this cruelty investigation.  Vinnie has no idea that he was victimized.  He is just a loving, roly poly of a pup, just a few months old.  Vinnie loves to run and play with the other dogs in his foster home and loves to give kisses and chin nibbles to his humans.  He is easy to love and is beautiful despite his now quirky ear nubs.  We think he is a boxer/bully breed mix with a beautiful brindle coat and lots of flashy white.

If anyone would like to be the happy ending to Vinnie’s story, please contact Marsha at harleydavidson95th@yahoo.com or call her at work at 337-493-3032.

This is Dylon :

He is about a year old and as sweet as they come. He came from a shelter with no history. He has a little eye infection right now but it is getting better.  He gets along with everyone, dogs and kids, and after his hw treatment will be ready to set up in that forever home. Hope you have a place in your heart for this sweet boy.

This is Claire :

Claire is a young Fawn Female who came into Animal Control as a stray and no-one came looking for her.  She is up to date on shots, spayed, micro-chipped but unfortunately she has heartworms. Once treated for her heartworms…she will be ready to go to her forever home.  She is a very sweet girl but she does not like Cats. Do you have the home Claire is looking for to give her that second chance at being loved forever?

This is Macy :

Macy is a very petite, sweet 1 ½ year old Fawn Female who came to us from a very nice woman who rescued her from a horrible situation. As you can see, she is very skinny and needs some regular meals to put some meat on those bones.  We in rescue are good at that though!  She is up to date on shots and will be spayed before placement.  Unfortunately Macy is heartworm positive and will have to undergo heartworm treatment.  Do you have room in your heart and a soft pillow (or bed) Macy can sleep on so she will know what it is like to be loved forever?

This is Snowflake :

Say hi to to this very sweet girl.  HW neg, just needs to be spayed and treated for demodec mange. She was a shelter stray. Gets along well with strong willed boys, picks on the wieners. She is very lovable and really likes kids.  Maybe you have a spot for her?

This is Toby :

Toby is a Young White Male who came into AC as a stray and no-one came looking for him.  He is up to date on shots, neutered but unfortunately he is heartworm positive.  After being treated for his heartworms, he will be ready to go to his forever home.  He gets along great with his foster buddy, Claire.  Do you have room in your heart and home to give Mr. Toby his second chance at love he so deserves?  ***Toby is in boarding as we have no room in our foster homes.  If you would like to foster or make a donation towards his boarding fees, please contact Tracey at tracey0506@yahoo.com ***

This is Melody :

Melody is a 1 Year Old, Female Boxer who is up to date on her shots, heartworm negative and is currently being treated for Demodex. Once the Demodex clears, she will be spayed before placement.  Her Foster Family has figured out that she is hard of hearing…she just has trouble figuring out where sounds come from sometimes. She came to us after she was dumped in a common spot for dumping unwanted dogs. A very nice young lady picked her up and contacted us and asked if we could help her. Of course we couldn’t turn her away, because as you can see…she needed some medical attention and some food.  Her Foster Family is working on fattening her up now with regular meals.  She is a very sweet girl with a lot of puppy still in her, does well in the crate and with kids too.  Do you have the home Melody needs to learn to trust again and know that she will be loved and never dumped again?

This is Salty :

He is probably about 2yrs old and from a shelter. He is deaf but one smart cookie and is learning signs. He seems to be housebroken for the most part but is having a slight problem wanting to mark, which should subside now that hes neutered. However hes also heartworm positive and is nearing end of treatment. He is almost ready for that special home that will love him.

This is Allie :

Just in from a local shelter, owner surrendered. She is active and would be best in a home with a few grown up, strong personalities and no children. She needs some obedience training but in general listens to her tough foster Mom pretty well. Seems to get along with other males. She is spayed, hw negative and raring to go!!

This is Dolly:

She is approximately 3 years old. Dolly is very sweet with people, however, she doesn't care much for other dogs at all. Dolly needs to live in an only dog home with a human who is very dog savvy and can help teach her the right way to behave. She is spayed, current on vaccinations and negative for heartworm, and on preventative.
