There are many
reasons that might force a person to need to re-home their Boxer. Our mission in
accepting owner-surrender Boxers is simple...to help the Boxers make a smooth
transition from their current homes to new ones.
The first step to a surrender is to give us a phone call or email. We
ask that you be as honest as possible with us about the dogs history, because it ultimately benefits
the dog. A copy of the surrender form, that will be completed upon transfer of
the dog, can be found here. If there are problems, such as separation anxiety or aggression towards
other animals, let us know. This
will not preclude us taking the dog, just assist us in finding the appropriate
home where he can live out his life.
We will either ask you to bring the dog to us, or meet at a pre-agreed place and
time. We reserve the right to refuse the dog if it is apparent that the dog is
vicious or is a known biter. We also ask that you turn in all of the dogs
belongings (such as his crate, special toy, collar, leash, etc) to assist him
with his transition to a new situation.
We also request that if the dog is AKC registered that his papers be turned in
at the time of the surrender. AKC rules stipulate that the registration papers
for a dog be destroyed when he enters into rescue. Louisiana Boxer Rescue
adheres to all codes of ethics of the American Kennel Club, American Boxer Club and the American
Boxer Rescue Association.
